Same Old Song - Or Is It?!!

I thought that it would be fun to create a story using song titles and lyrics. Anyone can join in and when the responses slow down, I'll add the comments together and we'll have a story! Just a little something to have some fun with. Let's see how many titles we can utilize in this story. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I'm sitting here with an ocean of thoughts and dreams (The Dramatics). I'm wondering (Stevie Wonder) can this be real (Natural Four)?

In the still of the night (The Five Satins), I touched a dream (The Dells).

RAINY DAYS

Autumn is finally here and on this day, Sat, 10/23/10, its raining like crazy. its only 2:10P and it looks outside like 7 or 8p. For me its one of those lazy, sleepy days. My eyes won't stay open. I'm missing

the fellowship of my fellow BULLDOGS. No one is even on line with me right now. Our campus is bare and void of activity. I wish we were having a get together or something. This is such a drag from last

weekend when everyone was together and having a ball.

Anyway, I can remember back in the day when we had days like this, we would gather together and

play cards (not so much the games we play today) like GO FISH, MONOPOLY, JACKS, etc., We would

have hot chocolate, or some soup and crackers, or just lay around reading a book. Of course the boys

would be rough-housing and mother would constantly holler for them to be careful before someone got

hurt. Then she would say, "if any of you come to me crying, everyone is getting a whipping". I would

crack up because the boys would then stop rough housing and start jabbing each other in the side so

as not to be rough. But those jabs look like they hurt too. We didn't have a telephone back then, and

I remember if mother needed to get a message to or borrow something from someone, the boys would

have to walk or run to that neighbors house to take care of mother's wishes. Being the only girl, I was

a thorn in my brother's sides at times because someone always had to play with me and play what I

wanted to play. The boys hated that. But it didn't matter. There were 8 of them and 1 of me.

Of course if it was a Sat., we got to go to the STATE THEATRE. The boys always was happy to see the

feature of the day...usually a good Hopalong Cassidy, Lone Ranger, Tom Mix, Gene Autry, or some

other good western. I loved the westerns, but was wishing for a good romantic movie. (OH I SHOULD

CLEAR UP WE WERE OLDER THEN) LOL.

Oh well, those are my thoughts right now. I wish this was last weekend. HEY SOMEBODY, HOLLER BACK!

JIM LIGHTIN'

Do any of you remember JIM LIGHTIN'?

Wasn't that an old soul food "hole-the-wall," joint somewhere behind Booker T.? Now, that was in the early 50's. Cecil Ray probably can clarify that, because he was in the class of 52, I think.

I went to BT in the 8th grade in 54, and it was going strong then. I don't actually remember going there to eat, but, I do know a lot of the athletes went there to eat all of the time, and it was always said the food was "good soul food." "Can I get a Jim Lightin' Witness"? :)

Holding Onto Memories

As I get older, I realize that my memories have become very important to me. All the things that we were have made us the people that we are.

I remember that I could not think of what to get my Grandfather for his 92nd birthday. I designed him a 20" pillow with a picture of him and my Grandmother on their wedding day. My Grandpa loved it but our family loved it more. My Grandpa died last year at the age of 93 years old.

Sometimes, something as personal as a photo long forgotten can bring back a flood of memories. I design pillows, wall hangings, quilts, and bags with precious photo memories. I also design (and give) greeting cards, collage frames, and scrap booking to keep the memories alive for everyone.

What are you doing with your pictures? Are they kept in a box, still in the envelope fading away as the memory does?

Let's share!

THANKFUL

Once I've gotten older birthdays have taken on a different meaning.Go back with me and try following me,some time it hard following me because I'm all over the place. Lets start when a birthday was all about pinning the tail on the donkey, cake, ice cream, and presents. As we got older it was about a birthday parties(dancing) and presents. For some it was about surprise parties.Later in life the name change from parties to celebrations. All of that is good if thats what make you happy. What make me happy ,now this is my birthday, right and you want me to be a happy birthday boy.Celebrate with me by being Thankful.Let me show you what I mean.I'm thankful for another birthday,so many have gone on.I'm thankful for all my wonderful classmates ,Galen, and all my dear friends. You have no ideal what you all mean to me.I'm thankful for my family,I'm thankful for Cassie, Melvin,Chuck,Casey, and James successful surgery On this my 68th birthday I;m thankful for good health.Think three words and get thankful (ICU).Understand there are folks who would gladly exchange places with you and me.Doctors give bad reports every day,Accidents happen, people become homeless, some have lost job,and some have even lost limps, If any of these things happen to you .God can see you through,so my birthday wish is for you to be Thankful.
