The Prince of Peace

The Bible calls Jesus the Prince of Peace. That means He is the ruler of peace. He is the ultimate peace. Having His peace is not like having the peace the world has; His peace is permanent. It never changes, and it can never be taken away.  It’s interesting that the word “peace” literally means “to set at one again.” In other words, when we are one with the Father, when we line up our thoughts, our words and our actions with Him through the blood of Jesus Christ, we will experience His peace in our lives. Anytime you find that you don’t have peace about something on the inside of your heart, when you feel an uneasiness, that’s a sign that you should stop and pray and make sure you are in line with God’s direction. Remember, His plans are for your good. He leads you by peace and fills you with His joy. When you choose His ways, you become one with Him and experience His peace and blessing all the days of your life!

After a bank issued an eviction notice for a home in Northwest Atlanta, sheriff's deputies and movers went to the residence to remove the people who lived there. But when they found Vinia Hall, 103, and her daughter, Vita Lee, 83, the movers and deputies decided not to follow through with it.

According to WSBTV, the women had been engaged in a long legal battle with Deutsche Bank, thefinancial giant accused of widespread mortgage fraud by the U.S. government earlier this year and is the focus of a $1 billion lawsuit filed by the Justice Department. In November, Deutsche Bank paid $165 million to settle a suit claiming that it had misled credit unions about the risk of securities tied to mortgages.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Ali Muhammad, Hall's grandson, took out a second mortgage on the house from Deutsche Bank National Trust. Although Hall lived in the residence for 53 years, Muhammad was listed as the owner. In 2009, Deutsche foreclosed on the property, according to the paper. (The loan is now controlled by Chase Bank.)
The Journal-Constitution reported that Mayor Kasim Reed of Atlanta, Derrick Boazman, a former city council member, and Vincent Ford, a state senator, all intervened to keep Hall in her longtime home.

“[Chase] should write this off at a loss,” Boazman said.

"I saw the sheriffs, who came to put them out, take off and leave. I gave all glory to God," community activist Michael Langford said.

"Please don't come in and disturb me no more," Hall said. "When I'm gone you all can come back and do whatever they want to," Hall said.

Hall is set to turn 104 in three weeks.

GALEN HAS REPORTED:

Kathlyn Gilliam, DISD's longest serving trustee of 23 years, died today after a battle with cancer. The Dallas Morning News will have a full obiturary in tomorrow's newspaper and online. Her good friend Joyce Foreman shared the news of her death in a news release below (can be found in main Lobby).

Ms Kathlyn Gilliam lived and served her comunity during the time of the Civil Rights Movement.  She served relentless on DISD and many other boards, fighting for her community..Black South Dallas, residents and school children.

I can still hear her voice in my mind saying..."Carolyn, this is what I need from the radio station, Joe Bagby and Jerry Thomas"... without hesitation, I would take my notes, get her on the air with Julia Scott Reed or Bro. Joe for an interview.  She was the inside person on the school board, ..she kept us informed. Her tiny voice was very recognizable and was heard over many other heavier voices in a room.  She always got your attention.  And sometimes that attention was directed at the radio station, KNOK, when she felt a story had not gotten the coverage it deserved.  I was on the end of that conversation too.  LOL!

I will remember her with highest esteem, as a great trailblazer and model of what a Proud Black Woman, looks like...

Bless you Kathlyn Gilliam, take your place in your new home, God's Kingdom!!!
