This banner is truly representative of "Dear Ole Booker T. Washington High School," in the beginning, up until 1969. It is original, authentic, and it is the mascot/trademark banner. It has class. The colors are the real colors used in the beginning, as it should be; it shows the original BTW emblem & the bulldog, that's what makes it authentic.
The other banner that is currently being used is more of a "Junior, or middle School type, banner." In no way, does it represent a historical landmark school, such as Booker Washington High School. No disrespect to the person who designed that banner, but, in my opinion, its just not representative of our alma mater.
Thanks, Mary Frances, good to hear from you and yes, I remember Curtis, very well. I followed his career while I was in the Service. Great Boxer and another famous Bulldog. I also saw where he had started training and managing other fighters. I remember Cuney as well but I lost touch with almost everyone when I joined the Air Force. Take care.
Hello Cecil that is a great photo I just read some of your coment from last fall's BTW Athletes. Thanks for the memories of George Fleming He was a good friend of my coz Cuney Clemons and also my familys paper boy. I am uploading BTW Athletes , only the bulldog's of the 50's will remember these. Also do you remember Curtis Cokes he became a boxer. I am working on the photos.
