You're right Fred; when you said the names, it came back to me.
Let me tell you how "The Modern Music Club" came about. This was a "Jazz Club." At that time a lot of us were beginning to like jazz; I fell in love with jazz in 1957, when I was 17. The very first jazz album I recall really listening to was: Dave Brubeck; I believe it was titled: "Take 5" with Paul Desmond. I was hooked after that. So, I decided to organize a "Jazz Club" at BT, which I did. Anyway, when we all got together, we decided on the name: "The Jazz Club," and went to Mr. Patton to get permission; he said: "Nope," you can have the club, but, you can't name it "The Jazz Club." He said it was too forward, almost too vulgar, the word, "Jazz." This was 1958 or 59. He suggested we call it "The Modern Music Club." Any other words, jazz music was modern music so to speak at that time, and we were just teenagers; not yet adults. So, that's how the "Modern Music (JAZZ) Club came about at BTW, "back in the day." And, to this day, I truly love jazz, and have a "hellava" jazz collection.
Thanks Rose Mary for those names, you just made my life easier. I kept coming back to this photo hoping that their names would eventually pop into my head.
