Carl, get me the chocolate kits and a hand full of penny candy. That will do....and stop following me...you ain't getting none of my sour pickle and peppermint....go back and get you a Nehi soda and I may give you a piece...hahaha HEY Carl!........get me grape.
DEB,THIS MAY SOUND A LITTLE CRAZY,BUT AS BOYS GREW OLDER,IT WASN'T MACHO TO BUY A LOT OF PICKLES & PEPPERMINT.(IT WAS A GIRL THING). BUT YOU ALWAYS FOLLOWED THE GIRL,SO YOU COULD BREAK YOU OFF A BIG PIECE. I ALWAYS LIKED SOUR. THE CORNER GROCERY STORE,I DON'T THINK I EVER KNEW ITS NAME. THERE WAS ALSO A GROCERY LOCATED AT THE CORNER OF WATTS & CADDO STREETS(name unknown). HOW ABOUT SOME "KITS" PENNY CANDY.
Carl, yes you are so correct about the store across from BF Darrell. I can just picture one right now. I'll split one with you if you pay half...hahaha. But I really was talking about the Corner Store on the picture because that is the store we girls went to when picking up things for our family on the weekends. But yeah, that store across from BF Darrell did have the largest pickles in their jars. What kind did you buy? The sour or the dill for your peppermint? Also, did you read Buddy's response to the name of the Corner Grocery Store on this picture? Does it sound correct to you?
DEB,MOST STORES SOLD PEPPERMINT & PICKLES.BUT TONY'S(across the street from B.F.DARRELL- hall & cochran)HAD SOME OF THE LARGEST PICKLES IN BARRELS.THIS MIGHT BE THE STORE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.
No wonder we called it the Corner Store....nobody could pronounce nor spell the name of the store. Good one Buddy...good one Travis. Now what was the name of the owner who sold us the pickles and peppermint, etc and what was the address of the store?
Drum roar please ,two great minds collaborated , me being one and Travis Morgan being the other . The name of this corner store is (over look the spelling) MATHALOSA .
After I talked again last night with my sister she said yes, Sagnibean was located at the corner of Washington and STATE," not" Washington and THOMAS. So, yeah, we do need to keep digging. Come on somebody, help me and Carl out.
DEB,IT WASN'T SAGNIBEAN. SAGNIBEAN WAS LOCATED AT THE CORNER OF WASHINGTON AND STATE STREETS. THE LAST TIME I WAS IN THAT BUILDING,IT WAS WHAT WE CALLED A NIGHTCLUB OR JOINT(name also unknown). KEEP ON DIGGING,SOMEONE OUT THERE REMEMBERS THE NAME OF THAT STORE.
Carl, I just talked to my sister Gloria Young Conway and she said she thinks it was: Sagnibean or Sangnibean Grocery. Maybe that will jar someone's memory. Come Buddy....what do you think....did you find it at the Library? hahahah

Carl, "you are correct" about where Sagnibean was located.
