Well Fred my friend we can't go back in time to re-live, but we can revisit fond memories as we all have done interacting and sharing photos. The beanie cap will be significant to me beause it was the beginning of me becoming a"Bulldog". Man! what a time that was.....fall 1960.
Fred, no we didn't have a beanie cap during the '53-57 years. It would have been nice, but like you said...Tubby, Ed Turner and those guys wouln't have worn them even as freshman. I think the girls would have loved to see how many ways they could wear it.
Thank you Cassie,I feel a lot better knowing that, because me and most of my classmates, weren't disciple enough for that type of freshman initiation.Imagine me a freshman tagging alone with Tubby and CharlesTurner ,with their popularity two of the school's senior star football players. First of all I was out of my league with those senior, they knew way to much for a freshman like me.Now add a beanie cap and that, would have been a total humiliation for all of us .The history is good to know, and the timing even better ,AFTER MY FRESHMAN CLASS!
I can't recall if you paid money, but this was a 1st year orientation thing. I remember most 1st year students wearing them at the first week of school and as the week wore on they began to disappear
I LIKE THE CAP, BUT WE DIDN'T HAVE CAPS......I CAN'T REMEMBER THEM BEING THERE IN 1961 WHEN I LEFT. I LOVE THE IDEA... DID THE SCHOOL FURNISH THEM OR DID YOU HAVE TO PURCHASE THEM? LET ME KNOW.
