Happy Birthday to MY Big Sista!!!
I don't consider myself as saying that belated because if GOD has allowed us to see 2013, the we should be celebrating more than one day. I'm smiling because I realize how at an early age, God allowed me to be Blessed to live in a Village called the Roseland Homes Projects. We had our on neighborhood grocery stores, washeteria, churches,Sears & Roebuck, bank across the street from Sears. Sun Rexall (24 hrs), Wards & Skillerns drugstores. All the ladies were "fine" because we walked everywhere we went. The only car I ever remember riding in was Rev Whitmire's every Sunday. No church....no Sunday @ the State Theater. We piled in his car sitting all over each other on Sundays so we had the privilege of going to the counter buying a pickle before the movie started. Was not an option like it is today with our children. We walked through Rivershon Park to P C Cobb stadium as a group. When I moved to the projects, the 1st thing I had to do was learn to skate and I had to get my ears pierced via threaded needle and use of broom stick straw. If anyone can think of the back, let me know. I think it was the Mercantile. But that's the bank I know that we use to bank from in our 1st period class with the little brown books. Sorry, having a Senior Moment.
