Bulldog Track & Field

Here we go!...into the big Springtime Track meets, great Bulldog runners, hurdlers, jumpers, throwers, vaulters and relay teams that were and are a big part of the legendary Bulldog sports history. The names and their feats are many. Enjoy the return trip to stadiums of track and field glories!!!

Don Sidle excites the Texas high school track world with a 6 foot 5 inch High Jump in a big Kilgore Texas track meet. This was back when the WORLD high jump record was just barely over 7 feet, and jumpers jumped Western Roll style where they went over the bar face-down. Using today's high jump "flop" style it's likely that Don would have been in the 7-foot range.

    Dedication and hard work training to lift and clear the bar........Being a GREAT basketballer didn't hurt either

    More sprint greats from the mid 1960's -- the winning 440 Relay quartet shown here of "Eddie Sanders", "Harold Neal", "L.C. Archie Cooper", "Samuel Jackson". plus "Landa Henderson" who doesn't appear in this Dallas Post Tribune newspaper picture. The year was 1963 or 1964 -- which was it, track fans?
