Buddy, you are still on it. (I paused from changing my new grandbaby's diaper and saw your message about the departure of one of our "royal" up-lifters and crusaders of TRUTH...Larry.) I will and have always remembered/thought of Thabiti as Larry because then I can relate to the many fun conversations Larry and I had during school in the hallways and after the games. Larry was always to me a guy who was always the same and could remember everybody's name. He had a strong memory and he never forgot. His revolutionary means to crusade and march in the spirit of doing the right thing when he was needed. Larry was always there. There more during his older years, because he saw where he came from and the things he had to put up with/tolerate and still hold your head up like a MAN. Larry is missed now and will always be missed by me whenever I go to a function...I will be looking for Larry. God Bless him for his presence with us for this Journey....that we now have to continue without him. Love you Larry and now sleep my friend....sleep. I will see you in the morning with a smile on your face.
A current message: (I love my grandbaby girl Camryn Dior....she is a doll "without" the wind up stem....she is on automatic mode!....lol Oops! It's bottle feeding time for her....got to goooooooooooooo!
Thanks for this Fred! I'll miss seeing my friend and classmate at all the events that he managed to make it to. He was one of a kind and like you always say Fred, "That's a good thing".
This is an awesome tribute to Thabiti displaying the essence of him and his focus on his cultural roots.
Although he struggled for some time with his health issues, through his dogged determination would not and did not slow him down from being included in a number things and events. Especially a Booker T Washington "Bulldog" event.
So long my buddy, so long my friend...there's a higher power we all answer to and he called your name. I know things won't be the same without you, but I know you want us to remain strong and carry on. I'm really gonna miss Thabiti reminding me of years past of our Bulldog athletic achievements and failures. Somethings I had no recall to, but somehow Thabiti didn't forget.
God places people in our lives without a hint of the impact they will make. There are so many hidden ways these impacts show their faces . Once our friends or love ones are gone .We become flooded with so many impressions memories and emotions . Thabiti is a prime example of goodwill, intellect and love for black people that will have a lasting influence on me for the rest of my life.Farewell my friend you will be missed but never forgotten.
