  • This is a great vldeo connected to a great song. I always stand tall whenever I hear the song.

Sad to say many of today's youth have no idea of the history and power of this song. The video protrayed the song perfectly. Our children refer to the title of this song as 'Lift Every Voice and Sing', not the 'Negro National Anthem'. They are missing this in school, we have got to teach them.

    Thanks for the video.

Very powerful messages and images are contained in the this video.  As I watched the photos of the brave men and women who fought for our rights while being beaten, water hosed and fighting off dogs I wish I could tell them, "Thank you so much for what you did for future generations of our people".  And I also thank our teachers who made sure we learned the song and learned our past.  It brings tears to my eyes but also pride in my people who did not give up the struggle.  And on it goes...

  • This song makes me stand tall, shoulders back with a PROUD arrogance about myself.  I never will forget the first time I sang and heard it.  It brought tears to my eyes and made the hair on my arms and back of my neck stand at attention.   I don't think we hear it enough these days.  I will definitly purchase a copy.  Its worth its weight in GOLD to me. Seeing the faces in the video of those who fought for us to be free...make it a very powerful piece!  I treasure this and will use this video to assist those who will listen, the words, so that they can feel the power of PRIDE OF OUR RACE!

  • Great video. I remember Mrs. Sanders, who seemed to be in her 80's then, teaching us this song at Booker T.'s "little brother school" B.F. Darrell Elementary ... and I seriously recall feeling -- in that rather dark music room in "the Old Building" -- a sense of the Black History we were singing about ... almost like some of our ancestors were there saying with whispered encouragement, "that's it children ... that's it". Thank God for teachers who cared to inculcate in us pride in our people and history. Almost makes me teary eyed just thinking of it.

  • Powerful...Powerful message and history this song has uplifted then, and as the ongoing struggle continues to press forward!
