  • RoseMary, I had a bookcase headboard just like that. I kept on it some books I occasionally read, like "Treasure Island", my cool plastic Purple People Eater from Kress five-and-10 cents store downtown, and whatever radio I temporarily owned that I'd listen to KLIF & KBOX top 40 on in the day, WLAC (Nashville/Galatin Tennessee, with "John R. the Hoss Man" their Royal Crown hair grease commercials, and R&B we could hear nowhere else), Wolfman Jack from Del Rio, Texas with their transmitter XERF across the Mexican border that blasted him all over the U.S. with 50,000 watts of radio broadcast power, and whatever New York area Doowop/Top 40 station I could sometimes reach. Oh yeah ... and my diary.
