  • Oh yes, brother Carl! My dad's mother and father lived on Clark Street directly in front of the merry-go-round. Sometimes my Mother had long hospital stays for spinal cord surgery and treatment and they kept my brother and me for up to 6 months. Those were some very memorable good times. At 3 years old they'd let me go outside in the cool of the morning and play in the red sand in front of the porch. But crossing the street to play on Griggs park when I was older - about 4 - was almost like a trip to the Fair Park Midway back then for me. We were too little to handle the see-saws so I'd just sit on the end of one and watch the other end up in the air, bounce on my end a little ... then move on to something else. I used to sit on the porch steps and stare across at the Central Expressway traffic and B.F. Darrell and daydream.

My earliest North Dallas memory goes back to about 1949 when I was 2 years old. #ILovedMeSomeShortNorthDallas-andStillDo

  • Carl, I remember those see-saws! Weren't these on Griggs Park in front of Clark Street, near the corner closest to St. Peter's?
