Looking for Bobbie Brown

I am trying to get in touch with Bobbie Browm class of 1967. Our families were very close during the years we attended Booker T. We lived in North Park Bobbie on Tyree and I on Aubrey ave in the bottom. We loss contact during my time in service. When I returned from Viet-Nam in 1968 I was told by her cousin Judy also an alum of Booker T she had moved to Houston and working for an Oil company. Bobbie and I were like sister and brother although our mothers wanted us to be more but thats another story, we used too laugh alot about those 2. I am soon to retire and my goal is to find her if anyone can assist me in locating her I will be forever greatful. Photo to follow.

  • Shea was in Dallas this weekend he and Bobbie are now living in Houston, Tx. Your contact information was left at Judy's house for Shea to take back to Houston. Bobbie should get the info sometimes this week? Hopefully she will contact you soon....Good Luck

    • Atwell you are the greatest. You have truely made my day. I have been looking for Bobbie for over a year. I originally met Robert Laneon classmates who told me about the BTW website and Galean. This website is a powerful tool. I moved from Dallas before I graduated but I will always be Bulldog at heart. I can hardly wait to visit next summer. We must meet personally when I get there. God Bless you and your family and have a happy holiday.
    • Sounds like an exciting climax to your quest is on the way, Donald! And at Christmas time, too! Wishing you this special joy quickly!

Greg, seems you should get one of the "Contact King" awards this year!
  • Hey Donald. Thought I'd repost Bobbie's pictures for those who may have missed her previous features or maybe haven't seen the attachment here. Be blessed.

  • Last I heard Bobbie had moved to the West Coast to be near her father. That was back in 1969 or 70. She moved to Oakland or Los Angeles. I will check with some of her relatives that still live in Norht Park.

    • Atwell,
It took me a minute to get my memory in order but I wanted to ask if any of Bobbie's relatives you mentioned were Bobbie's uncle Sam a twin, Judy her cousin or Judy's mom Marie and her grandmother leah?
    • Thanks so much Atwell. I also knew some of Bobbie's relatives, her grandmother, twin uncles, an aunt and cousin. They should remember me if not tell them I'm Roberta's son. I live in southern California near Los Angeles. It would be great if she lived in the Los Angeles area.
  • I don't remember Robert Rixs nor Bobbie's brother Shea, though I may have "known" them by face and never the name as often happened in high school. You know Kenneth Douglas is a member here on the website, right? Class of 1956. (That reminds me -- I need to ask Ken if he knows the whereabouts of George Jones, '56.)

We will keep the grapevine buzzing about Bobbie.

    Blessings!

Great to hear from you Galen. No we did not walk that night. I forgot whose car we were driving, her parents had several. We took several pictures that night but this was the only I could find. I was in Oklahoma this month enrolling my son at Langston University. My son's roommate's uncle was there also and a BTW and Langston aluim, Kenneth Douglas. I believe he was class of 1955 and resides in Desoto. Talk about a small world. Was hoping to come to dallas and visit with you and Robert but was unable to do so. Thanks for the encouragement on locating Bobbie, I was beginning to doubt if I would locate her but my hope is renewed. I recall she was dating a guy named robert rixs in the late 60's, do you remember him. She also had a youngr brother Shea Brown he would have been in the class of 69 or 70. I heard he enlisted in the navy after high school.

  • That's a great photo of you two, Donald. Bobby looks just as I recall, except at school she seemed to be continually smiling or laughing joyfully. She was in my brother's Class of 1967 as I recall.Bobby looks tired ... did you guys walk to the Shalimar? (That's how most of us got around those days. :-) )

Aaaah the Shalimar .... I might have passed by you two in a booth on the way to the counter to pick up two dinners my mother had ordered over the phone. Well, someone had to live the good life that night -- might as well have been you two!!

Be blessed my brother. The search for Bobbie continues! The BTW network won't let you down.

    Galen ~

This is a photo of Bobbie and I in September of 1964 after attending an event at Booker T. We were celebrating at the Shalimar Lounge at Thomas and Hall.
