ADD HERE ALL ANNOUNCEMENTS OF INTEREST TO THE MEMBERS AND THE LEGACY OF BOOKER T. WASHINGTON TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL IN DALLAS.
Please make sure that your announcement is not promoting a product, products, or a service to sell, not "cheerleading" for an already well-advertised or well-publicised event or cause, such as a political gathering, etc., and not repeating information already in an "Event" created and published on our website.
If you're not sure, just add your announcement anyway and we will 'work out' any needed adjustments.

Urgent Information Regarding the Booker T. Washington Memorabilia Case and its Contents - from Rose Mary Thomas -
I recently had a conversation with Willie Mae Coleman, who is a graduate of Lincoln High School, and a long time member of the WLAA. She is trying to gather BTW memorabilia to be put back on display in “our old Booker T. Washington High School.” A staff member who is in authority at the school told her “there is no proper representation of the Old BTW School” presently on display there anymore.
She said there is a small amount of memorabilia at the school, but, not enough to be representative of Booker T., she is asking any former student’s who has anything pertaining to the ”Old Booker T. Washington,” such as pep squad, sports, ROTC, Royal Ambassador choir pictures, trophies, freshman beanie caps, pep squad suits, old football helmet’s, even old yearbooks, etc., please consider letting those items be used to be put on display for the students over there to have something to identify “our school” from back in the day for them, (and us too).
She said this staff person is saying if nothing is brought over there soon, the display case will be shut down. If that happens, that would be a shame. We cannot allow that to happen.
Let me say this, most of us know this problem is not new; we know that a lot of items were removed when the school changed over a few years ago. Some items were taken for keepsakes; some trophies were supposedly put in a storage closet. A track coach who is a former BTW football player has several trophies in his possession, said he will return them to the school, hasn’t so far. Now, it’s reached the point where something needs to be done, and we can help solve the problem. I believe we all have some type of school memorabilia that we can let go, if you will. If you know someone who has something, ask them to donate it back to the school.
From all indications on the “BTW Dallas Website,” there is still a strong love and connection for Booker T, and this is one time, we all need to really come together and “gather up” whatever we are willing to donate to our school in order for the memory of “Dear Old Booker T.” to stay alive. After all, Booker T. was the first school for black students in Dallas in 1939. Not only did we attend Booker T., a lot of our parents attended Booker T, and “We need to represent.”
Our school day’s are in our past, so now, it is our duty to help keep that memory alive. Let this be “A Labor of Love” for our school…
