They really were Eve, I saved all my pennies all the time for some, lol...and so did ever other kid, the place stayed full, really. I'm almost certain her name was Mrs. Johnson. Thanks for the reply.
OMG, I did not remember her name, but I do remember those big jack cookies she sold. Were they really as good as I thought them to be back then? They were great cookies.
Yep, that's it, walked there every morning and back home. Hey yall, what about the cookie lady, Mrs. Johnson, I think....sold em out the jar 2 for a penny, lol....and everything else, Wow!
I know, right? I have really enjoyed these old photos sent to me by Fred. I'll post some of them later. Memories, like the corners of my mind, misty watered color memories......and so on and so on...you know the song! Til later
And I could remember the smell. Not a bad smell...but it had a distinct smell that I could not forget...just like when I went to Munger Ave. Thinking about it...I guess it was the food in the cafeteria, since that was the door we entered. I also accidentally threw my house key up in the tree on BF.Darrell's campus..playing around and throwing my key up in the air...and I couldn't get in the house when I got home. I had to wait on our back porch, Apt #75, for one of my older sisters to get home before I got in and before Madear got home from work...whew..I'll never forget that day. Does anyone else in the Projects remember there "back door" number. You know they all had numbers. And we hardly entered our "front door" on Alonzo Place, we always came through the back door, because it was always opened when Madear and Daddy were at home.
