Has anyone thought about How and Why they were given a "Nick-name?" And when you see someone from the past call you "out loud" by that nick-name...you know that this person knew you when you were young. Let's see how many campus members have a nick-name(s) and tell us how you got it or who gave it to you.  I know many of you have nick-names, so come on, I think this will be fun.

My nick-name is "RED." I got this name from my family, because when I was born, my hair was a sandy red color, so my uncle started calling me RED. My husband Dwight, still today calls me RED, and when he does...I smile....because it tells me that he and I have come a long way baby!  And guess what????? My favorite color is R-E-D! What's your Nick-Name(s)?

  • My nick-name is K-Bear. I got my nick-name from several of my class mates who had nick names themselves. funny thing though we enjoyed our nick names more than our proper names. Leroy Walls, nickname was Cig, as a cigar. Leroy's Dad always had a cigar in his mouth. Jeryl Busby was the first that called me K-bear. Jimmy Hilburn aka Hilly, Marvin Earl Davis, aka Peachhead, Floyd Leonard aka Chief, Jeryl Busby was JB Buzz, and last but not least was Bealie Hancock and Raleigh Williams no nickname as far as I know, don't forget Tippee or Thomas Mays.

  • I dyed my hair last month and it is blonde...so Dwight calls me Blondie...hahah...imagine that...a smart Blonde that knows what she wants and how to get it.  ooops...there it is...lol..haha

  • Dwight has given me a new nickname:  "The Police."  I am always keeping him on point and on his guard and "pulling" him aside...showing him that I got him and I will "ticket" him everytime if he steps out of line...hahaha.  For example: I try to tell him that I feel that the lamp should go on a certain table...and when he returns to the room...I've moved it..so he calls me the police...I be watching his every move...hahaha.  It's all in fun and love and he laughs at me everytime.  We believe in having a good time together.  Just ask Buddy...he's seen us in action.

  • If I remember, my deceased brother Robert Earl Jackson, Jr had a nickname of:  "Jack."  That's what his football friends called him when he played quarterback.  He was a dear friend of mine, because we both were born on the same date:  March 30th.  I'll really miss my friend of many years and many others too will remember and love his presence while here on earth.

  • James (tweet)  Oliver, it given to me my obert Taylor in the 6th. grade at K.B. Polk

  • Now that I am a new grand mother, my nick names are:  It's MeMe until she can call me MeMaw, which is my true nickname from all of my grandchildren.  Dwight's nick names are: Poppa, and Poppy and she calls him both names.  Ain't that cute, coming from a 19 month old granddaughter?  We just love her so much, as many of you love your grandchildren.

  • DEB, AS I SAID BEFORE,I NEVER REALLY HAD A NICKNAME. EVERYONE JUST CALLED ME C.A.                               GO BACK TO SOME OF THE NICKNAMES,BUDDY AND I COMPILED. THERE ARE MANY WHO HAD NICKNAMES.

    • Yes Carl you are correct and I did go back to the list you and Buddy gave back in April of 2012.  I was trying to get some new campus members to come aboard and give us their nicknames that were not mentioned that was during my era.  You and Buddy's list was a great list.  I thought some of the girls would come forward to the forum and give us their nicknames.  Just wanted to continue the conversation.  Thanks for the input C.A. lol

  • James Lyons, K. Carr, Atwell, Dudley, David Herron, Galen, Chuck Wilson, Carl Anderson, Bob Lane, Travis Morgan, and anybody....even the girls who have not given their nicknames...what were your nicknames when growing up?
