  • I'm a little late responding but that was our choir. The choir of all choir. Members voted me Mr. Ambassador my Sr. year 1967, only because I conducted some of our concerts. Ha Ha. Benny Reed (66) Lawrence Wilson (67) use to drive prop crazy especially with Elijah Rock/Shout Benny on the bass. Love you guys keep communicating with the ing.

  • Hello and welcome to all of the new (here online campus) members of the Ambassadors Choir.  Carolyn Thornton, you're so right ...we were an accomplished group of singers.  My involvement, was one of the happier times ... I say one of, because; I don't remember any day or activity that I wasn't happy to be a PROUD BULLDOG!

  • I became and enjoyed  being a member of the Ambassadors Choir in 1965 ,and will always cherish the memory.  Man what a Blessing..

  • Just found this page.  YES!, The Ambassador were the bomb!  WE could sing up a storm and all the city knew it too.  Even the Superintendent of schools at the time commented on how well we could sing.  We were not just any choir, Soprano, alto, tenors. We were 1st and 2nd Sopranos, 1st and 2nd Altos, 1st and 2nd Tenors, and 1st and 2nd Bass.  I have to this day not seen a choir with as much diversification since the BTW Choir.  No one could direct like Mr. A. P. McKenzie.  I even remeber the party he gave for us at his house near the North of the Lancaster-Kiest shopping center area.  What about the school letting us out early to walk downtown to the convention center to sing in a city wide choir program.  All the assemblies where we sang.  And the Songs we sang ( "Eligha Shout" , "Handel's Messiah", ,and so many more )they will never be forgotten.  Thanks.  I did not necessarily choose this class but I am so glad they chose me.  The Crimson and Gray Bulldogs! Hooray.   Anyone having comments and in the choir in '65-'68 copy me.  I loved me some choir.

  • I was in the Ambassadors Chior from '65 to '67, under Prof. Mckenzie. Those were some fun and memorable days that I have and will cherish for life.
  • I was in the Ambassadors Choir, under Mr. AP McKenzie, 62', 63' until the summer of 1964. How well I remember those days.
  • Hi Stanley,

First let me welcome you to our exciting campus (site).  It's so much fun.   Next Im glad you got back in the choir.  I feel  that our choir represents the BEST Dallas offered during Mrs. Muckleroy's (Sikes) tutuledge.  What was one of your favorite times during your stint in the choir?

Oh, I think you graduated with my brother J.M. Hill.

  • Hi Benny,

How well I remember those times.  They were magical to me back then.  To be a part of an event like that and to be recognized as one, if not the best choir in DISD.  (we knew we were #1).

Thank you for joining us here.  Our campus is great and lots of fun.

  • To my fellow Ambassador comrades, thanks for rekinderling the wonderful memories of my favorite period at BTW.  I was a member of the choir from '56 to the summer of '58. What a blessing it was to have Mrs. Sikes as our teacher.  She sure knew how to get the best out of you.  Having traveled a few places around the country seen my days at BTW, I can say without a doubt, that we were truly bless to have had the teachers we did.  Speaking of singing at the First Baptist Church, does anybody remember our big event at the Fairgrounds, when we sung Handel's Messiah with most, if not all of the HS choirs (as well as a few Church choirs) in Dallas?
  • Thanks Ella for that update. I was way off. OR was relating time frame
to when we first discussed her. That was about 2 yrs, ago.
